Down Nowy Świat Street

Nowy Świat is one of the most popular streets in Warsaw. It is teeming with life, full of prosperous trade, culture as well as entertainment. Nowy Świat begins in Three Crosses Square and ends by the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument. It turns there into Krakowskie Przedmieście, which leads to the heart of Warsaw − the Old Town. Nowy Świat belongs to the Royal Route which is one of the most important arteries of the capital, an object of cultural heritage in Poland.

Setting off from Three Crosses Square, you should pay attention to exclusive shops. There is a big number of them in this area: Pinko, Escada, later on Emporio Armani and Max Mara.

Right next to Charles de Gaulle Roundabout with the characteristic artificial palm, you will find a large socialist realism edifice. There is a restaurant and a wine bar, La Bodega and an exclusive jeweller’s with brands such as Cartier, Montblanc and Chopard.

After passing the roundabout, Nowy Świat looks completely different. Its character changes, cosier area is created by classicistic tenement houses. Traffic is not allowed in summertime, the whole street is at pedestrians’ disposal.

A large multimedia store which belongs to a Polish brand ‒ Empik ‒ can be found near to the roundabout. You will find everything in here: books, CDs, electronics, stationeries and small, house equipment. Also stationery collections which are related to Polish themes are very interesting. Sephora, a French perfumery, also has its shop in the vicinity.

The entire street is full of cafés, for example Polish chains such as Coffee heaven, Costa and elegant, stylish Cava. Starbucks fans will not be disappointed, they can count on a cup of coffee in their favourite place. One café stands out above the others.

On your way, you will come across shops with regional goods ‒ Krakowski Kredens and Specjały Regionalne. Their offers include highest-quality Polish sweet stuff.

You really have to visit the A.Blikle confectionary, which is located close to the junction of Nowy Świat and Chmielna streets. Blikle places have a long history and are very well-known among Varsovians. It is famous for sweet goodies (mainly for doughnuts) which have no match.

During the dinner hours, you will surely fancy restaurants located in Nowy Świat. The choice is huge. Frida, a Mexican restaurant, is worth recommending. You should pay attention to beautiful ceramics and other ornaments originally from Mexico. It is a very colourful and flowery place which serves outstanding food.

Indian cuisine fans should go to BUDDHA. It is a very atmospheric restaurant where from time to time Indian dance shows are held. They are a wonderful spectacle.

La Cantina restaurant is located closer to Krakowskie Przedmieście. it offers Mediterranean flavours. It is very likely to hear live music here.

Its neighbour is the Bierhalle Browar restaurant. It often gathers football fans who watch here matches and drink outstanding beer together.

When it is time for shopping, you should check a boutique of an Austrian brand ‒ FREYWILLE. It offers amazing jewellery. You will also find one of Pandora shops close to it. It enchants with a wide range of charms, but not only. You can choose here from elegant necklaces, watches and rings. Stylish bags and shoes can be found in Bally.

Although Nowy Świat showers us with dozens of shops, restaurants and cafés, sometimes it is worth concentrating on the spirit of this place to feel the rhythm of the capital, which is very intense in here. The exceptionally beautiful and magical street looks even more impressive during Christmas time, when it is covered with snow, full of shining lights and ornaments in the capital. It is like a fairy tale.
