Hakan Bakir Nokturn
Make sure to check out the first Polish exhibition of works by the Turkish sculptor Hakan Bakir. The winner of Turkish competitions for the most interesting sculptures presents his works in state collections, including the collection of İnönü University Museum in Malatya, Turkey, Myra Gallery in Florida, USA, as well as in numerous private collections, for example in the collection of the famous Metin Mizrakli.
His works are full of contradictions. They depict the moment which has to be sacrificed to create something new. There’re plenty of deformations, transfigurations and various shapes. Expressive forms of human animals present the fight between good and evil, the opposition between the victim and the victor. They seem real and unreal at the same time.
Bakir makes sculptures using his own method of metal processing in which every element obtains a unique shape thanks to various actions – hitting, cutting, welding, interlacing, bending, etc.
