Centrum Szkła i Ceramiki
Nowadays, something more than the Main Square, Floriańska Street, the Cloth Hall, and a tour in an electric vehicle awaits for visitors in Kraków – beside those well-known attractions there are more and more museum, art centres, and unique unknown monuments which are all interesting when it comes to tourism and culture. Among them, there is the Glass and Ceramics Centre, a unique spot not only as far as the city is concerned but also in terms of entire Poland.
Despite the fact that since the late 90’s artistic glass has not been produced there, the Glass and Ceramics Centre, located at 3 Lipowa Street, tries to continue the activity of the plants from the 70’s and 80’s. Currently, there is Lipowa 3 Gallery which organizes exhibitions of contemporary artists and offers unique hand-made glass goods. You can also admire the permanent exhibition which tells the history of glass production, familiarises the visitors with glass-making technology, and presents antique tools and works produced here between 1969-1998.
The most interesting pillar of the Centre’s activity is organising shows during which it is possible to see how the glass shaping by hand process is carried out and test yourself as a glass maker.
