Wrocław is a city with a rich cultural offer. There is a little something for people interested in theatre and opera as well as fans of all kinds of music – from classical music, through pop to jazz and rock. The capital of Lower Silesia is a place famous for atmospheric jazz clubs (e.g. the legendary Jazz Klub Rura) as well as for concerts of the biggest stars in the world.
Where to go on a concert in Wrocław?
Most concerts in Wrocław, especially when it comes to the biggest, most famous world stars, are held at the Centennial Hall [Hala Stulecia], a legendary structure built in the 80’s based on a design of a prominent architect – Max Berg – which was included in the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. The Centennial Hall (1 Wystawowa) is one of the most characteristic buildings in Wrocław and serves numerous functions. Thanks to fantastic acoustics and lots of space, it is a perfect place for organising both mass and small concerts. So far, such artists as Paco de Lucia, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Joe Cocker, Leonard Cohen, Deep Purple, Jean Michael Jarre have performed there. What is more, music festivals, for example the One Love Sound Fest, are held there annually.
Small concerts of appreciated independent musicians often take place in atmospheric clubs, for example Stary Klasztor (1 Purkyniego). It is an entertainment and restaurant complex located in a historical building which used to be a monastery of the Dominicans, built in the early years of the 14th century. Artists performing various types and genres of music perform in this unique place almost every day.
Many concerts are also held in clubs known for years which attract not only those who enjoy live music but also party-goers. One of them is Klub Alibi (67 Grunwaldzka), where pop music, hip-hop and rock concerts as well as dance parties, for example for students, regularly take place there. A similar function is served by the well-known Klub Eter (19 Kazimierza Wielkiego), where such artists as Kult, Katarzyna Nosowska, Myslovitz, Nouvelle Vague and Brendan Perry have performed.
One of the most important place when it comes to concerts in Wrocław is the National Forum of Music (1 Plac Wolności), where the most outstanding classical music and jazz artists often perform. There are eleven instrumental and vocal groups operating within the forum. Moreover, this institution organises many music festivals unique on an European scale. Anyone who loves jazz or classical music should keep up to date with the repertoire of the forum.
There is no doubt that Wrocław has a lot to offer to all music lovers – regardless of style, genre and scale of a concert, there is a little something for everyone. Make sure to follow our calendar not to miss anything!
