Benedict Abbey in Tyniec
The Bendict Abbey in Tyniec, whose origins date back to the 11th century, is a sacred building erected on a hill located by a calcareous cliff right next to the Vistula river.
This beautiful location and an impressive size of the building, combining the Romanesque art with late Gothic and baroque ornaments, are the reasons why it is a must for tourists who would like to discover the beauty of Kraków. One of the most impressive elements of the abbey is baroque St. Peter and Paul’s Church with an amazing pulpit in the shape of a boat. Another nice thing about visiting the Abbey in Tyniec is the fact that you can reach it by a water tram. In the building of a former library, there is a museum, the Benedict Institute of Culture, and the Guest House.
