Fantastically aromatic fresh bread, wine, home-made preserves and chocolate made by Charlotte.
Everything prepared based on French recipes. All bread and baguettes at Charlotte are home-made. The dough is leavened and made from wild yeast living on the peel of organic grapes. The bread is hand-made and baked under the watchful eye of experienced bakers. To prepare our products, we use high quality wheat and rye flour, sea salt and water. We do not use any bread mixes or enhancers. The extended fermentation has a large impact on bread quality because milk bacteria that multiply during this process improve the nutritional value of wheat bread and reduce symptoms of gluten intolerance.
Thanks to an old French recipe, based on the fermentation process, which has been known since the ancient times, our bread stays fresh for many days. We offer French wine because it goes well with simple dishes and tartines served at Charlotte. That is because, we value its excellent quality for a reasonable price. We choose various strains, including lesser known ones, associated with specific regions such as Vouvray, Chinon, Côtes du Rhône and Chablis. Usually, we select small family vineyards, where wine production is based on individual selection of strains.
At 18:00, the morning atmosphere changes into an evening one. We bring our large shared table, light the candles and replace sweet breakfast buns with sour tartines and wine, served in glasses or decanters.
