An opera in three acts composed by Polish pianist and composer Andrzej Czajkowski based on the comedy by William Shakespeare. The Merchant of Venice delights with its musical dramaturgy and characters. It's a story about Shylock, Jewish Merchant who lends money and charges high rate of interest and Antonio who lends money without interest. Antonio's friend Bassanio falls in love with Portia. To win her heart, he needs to borrow some money. Antonio wants to help him but as he doesn't have any money at that moment he decides to borrow it from Shylock. Suprisingly, Shylock decids to borrow the money without any interest but if he doesn't give it back on time, he will have rights to pound of his body. Gripping story conducted by Lionel Friend and stunning choreography by Michael Barry.
