Fragrance from queen Marysieńska’s dressing table
Nowadays, when almost everything can be bought, hand-made gifts become popular once more. The King Jan III’s Museum at Wilanów decided to invite adults to a three-part cycle of workshops which will allow the participants to make some hand-made Christmas presents.
A royal dressing table contained nothing but treasures. 17th-century perfumes differed a lot from the contemporary ones. The participants of the second meeting of the workshops will discover the secrets of mixing beautifully scented substances and the methods of extracting them. Moreover, they will also learn much interesting information about distillation and creating compositions. The theoretical part will be followed by a practical one, which is going to be held in a contemporary alchemical laboratory. The guests will have a chance to mix, smell and test their own compositions and leave the workshops with their own mixtures.
