The MOCAK museum is one of the latest tourist attractions in Krakow.

It was founded in 2011. MOCAK displays the newest international art and promotes education as well as research and publishing projects. It presents the art of the last 20 years. For visitors, this is an opportunity to discover contemporary art and meet its creators as well as collectors. MOCAK’s projects are aimed at various groups of visitors with the main goal being the decrease of prejudice against the contemporary art and allowing the recipients to learn more about it.

The permanent collection of this modern museum includes artworks from around the world, including works of such artists as Edward Dwurnik, Krzysztof Wodiczko, Kristof Kintera and Maria Stangret.

Some of MOCAK’s permanent exhibitions are: “Symbolic Design” or the interactive installation “Live Factory 2: Warhol by Lupa”, which was prepared in collaboration with the Helena Modrzejewska National Stary Theatre in Krakow. The visitors can touch the furniture and walls, sit down on the replica of Warhol’s sofa and watch the recordings of the theatre workshops that preceded the production.

The museum also holds temporary exhibitions. Each Thursday, the event “Thursdays with the Collection” are held in the Audiovisual hall. It’s a chance to see the selected video works from the MOCAK Collection for free.

The museum also has the Library, where you can learn more about the exhibitions, events and meetings organised by MOCAK, as well as the Reading Room, which includes contemporary art magazines. Last but not least, there’s also the MOCAKCafé.

The presented photos were taken by Rafał Sosin.
